After 10 years as a project manager in the IT industry, Greg has turned his avocation for film-making into a vocation. In addition to The Violin Maker Greg's credits include a feature length narrative crime/comedy movie, Render Me Dead, and Finding Playland a documentary about a long-closed Seattle amusement park. Greg has a number of projects in different stages of production.

Gabriel Miller, Cinematographer

Gabriel MillerCinematographer Gabriel Miller has spent the past fifteen years working in film and television production, primarily in documentary film. Gabriel first picked up the camera ten years ago, after beginning his career working exclusively as a sound recordist. Gabriel has worked with many renowned documentary directors, including Barbara Kopple, Liz Garbus, Rory Kennedy, Judith Helfand, Dan Gold, Wendy Ettinger (producer of The War Room) and recently with the directors of Jesus Camp, Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady. Gabriel was co-producer and Director of Photography for a cable television series which profiled artists, called Verve.. Gabriel brings strong verité shooting skills, strong lighting abilities, and a strong aesthetic sensibility to the productions he works on. Having worked as a producer, director and sound recordist, Gabriel is a cinematographer who can craft powerful images, but he can also factor in the whole range of challenges represented by the documentary filmmaking process.

Dan ThorntonDan Thornton, Editor

Dan has been working in television and film production since 1990 as an Editor, Producer and Director. For the past nine years he has also taught film and television classes at Bellevue College and Cornish College of the Arts in Western Washington State. Learn more at alibipictures.com

He has been involved in the production of several award winning television documentaries, including: Voices From the Front, a documentary chronicling the efforts of ACT UP NY and other AIDS activists between 1988 and 1990 (1991 Robyn Hutt, Sandra Elgear and David Meieran); Situation Critical, the story of a tragic fire aboard a US aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War (1997 Peter Mullett Films, Winstar Home Entertainment); This Place We Call Home, a film on the value of preserving farmland through “smart growth” and the Montgomery County MD Agricultural Preserve (F.A.R.M.); and Once Below a Time: Maggie Wyles’ Life in Wales (1998 Peter Mullett Films). For several years he was a partner in a small, alternative postproduction facility in Baltimore, Maryland that specialized in non-linear editing services for independent producers and directors throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region.

Dan is a co-founder of the Baltimore, DC area After Effects Users Group, an NAB advocacy panelist, Cofounder of the Northwest Documentary Association, has been active in media related causes for over sixteen years and is a Master Gardener.

Kyle Smith, Production Assistant

Kyle Smith has directed a handful of short films and edited a number of others, and has worked in almost every crew position possible. Though he prefers the former two, he's happy simply being on set.
